Minutes

Meeting Date: December 6, 2011

The meeting was called to order at 5:00 p.m. with the following members in attendance:

· Anne Kelly

· Jeff Johnson

· Betty Cosgrove

· Ernie Barker

· Pat Reilly

· Deb Jacobson

   The committee nominated and approved Deb Jacobson to act as Secretary.

   The following business matters were discussed and approvals given as follows:

· School Library Journal was renewed for Mrs. Buckley at a cost of $136.99.

· The Children’s Museum pass expires at the end of December. It was renewed at a cost of $110.00. The committee reviewed the museum pass list and approved the purchase of passes for the Peabody Museum and Imagine Nation in Bristol. Town residents have expressed some interest in Mystic Seaport. However, the pass for Mystic is expensive ($350). Since the seaport is closed in the winter, the group table further discussion until the February meeting.

· A new set of door chimes was discussed. The group approved an expenditure of up to $100. Pat Reilly or Ernie Barker will install the unit.

· The committee approved the continuation of the Great Decisions Program (31 books, 1 DVD set and a teacher’s guide at a cost of $460). A donation of $20 will be requested from each participant for the books. Classes will be held on Mondays at 4:00 beginning in January. Eight topics will be covered. This year the format will be slightly different. Speakers with expertise in the appropriate areas are being lined up to make presentations via Skype.

The January meeting will be held at 5:00 p.m. on January 3, 2012.

The meeting was adjourned at 6:00 p.m.
